It requires an experienced physician to evaluate a patient with Varicose Veins. We start with evaluating your health history and a careful physical examination of your legs. We may sometimes use a handheld Dopplerdevice to “listen” to your veins.
Evaluation and Diagnosis of Varicose VeinsUltrasound is the cornerstone of diagnosis of venous insufficiency. We employ ultrasound in multiple ways at North Beach Vascular.
First, we will do an ultrasound evaluation of the deep and superficial veins to determine whether you have venous insufficiency, and which veins are affected. We also make sure you do not have any problems with the deep vein system – which can be a contraindication to performing an ablation procedure. We also use ultrasound to map out all the abnormal veins prior to treatment.
Dr. Gropper has been performing ultrasounds and supervising ultrasound technologists for over 15 years. We have extensive experience in the use of ultrasound to diagnose all types of arterial and venous disorders.
